Who can participate in SAMUN 2024?

All students, from primary school to high school, are welcome to participate at SAMUN. We also encourage students who speak/learning French or Mandarin to join our bilingual committees.

Will food and drink be provided?

Yes! SAMUN will provide lunch for all students, as well as an afternoon snack.

How much is SAMUN?

SAMUN is $40 per student and includes a pizza lunch, afternoon snack, notebook, and participation certificate.

Will awards be provided at SAMUN?

Yes, we will be providing 1-2 honourable mentions, 1-2 outstanding delegates, and one best delegate per committee. More details on awards criteria will be released soon.

SAMUN will also be offering a trophy cup to the best delegation at the conference. The delegation awards will be calculated as follows: Best Delegate - 5 points, Outstanding Delegate - 4 points, Honourable Mention - 2 Points. In order to be eligible for a delegation award, a delegation needs to sign up and register as a delegation (not as independent delegates). Both school teams and composite teams are eligible for delegation awards.

Will SAMUN provide participation certificates?

Yes, all delegates that stay for the entirety of the conference, including the opening and closing ceremonies will receive a participation certificate.

Where can we make payment for SAMUN?

Independent Delegates: Please make payment at samun.ca/register

Schools/Delegations: Payment can be made by cheque or cash on the day of the conference, or preferably, you can e-transfer to finance@suon.ca.

Where can I find the rules of procedure in English, French, and/or Chinese?

SAMUN French/Chinese rules of procedure will be released mid-September on our website.

Are electronics allowed at SAMUN?

SAMUN has a no-electronics policy during committee sessions (including unmoderated caucuses). Students will draft all documents by hand in order to help them develop their skills in crafting working papers/resolutions.

Students however will be allowed to use electronics for personal use and/or research during breaks & lunch. Also, translator-only devices are allowed during the conference.

Are position papers required for SAMUN?

Position papers are not required for SAMUN.
